Pause; bead and wire tree sculpture
Going back to my roots, figuratively speaking with this one (and no pun intended)
These multicoloured bugle beads were one of the first bags I ever bought, and I used them at the time to make some Christmas tree gifts. I loved the colours but as a beginner I found them challenging to work with. Heck, I found most things challenging in the beginning! Anyway... fast forward several years and I decided to give them another go and I'm glad I did. Creating this small tree was like being back at the beginning again and finding pure delight in a new discovery.
The windswept design wasn't planned, it simply took form that way when it came to shaping it. When it came to naming it, I was torn between a ye olde Christmas, carnivals and stained glass window kind of vibe. In the end I went with Pause because it also made me think of shattered glass but in slow motion so you can see every single piece twinkling in the light. For such a small tree, there was a lot of thought that went into it.
Twysted together with antique copper coloured copper wire and mounted to an agate slice base in browns and greys.
Tree sits at 6cms / 2.36 inches in height
Pause
